Israel’s Survivor

Well, folks, it’s here. It took seven years… but Israel got its own version of Survivor. It premiered over the weekend.

Why anyone here in this country would need to play act at surviving, I’m not really certain. And I made that very clear some months ago in this posting.

But the media hype, build up and promotional campaigns leading up to the Caribbean location kick off were sort of a let-down for those who already know and love the series from the U.S.

AND for animal rights advocates. Like blogger Living in My Own World who was bitterly disappointed by the first episode. But not for reasons you might think.

Cruelty to animals right there in technicolor is what ticked “Living” off. Read about it here. Bummer. Sordid.

    2. Watched this first show in disbelief.
    What on earth were they doing making the survivors fight for food.
    That was an embarrasing piece of TV if ever I saw it.
    I was really worried about those poor chickens.

    And did the cameraman really have to spend so much time lingering on the women’s bodies?

    3. Sadly, I completely forgot that it was on last night and did not set my yesmax to record it. I’m a huge fan of the absurd show but was apprehensive because Israeli reality TV is nearly impossible to watch. Every show has horrid narration and spends most of the time recapping the previous weeks episode. I thought that since this was an actual “real” version of the show it might actually be entertaining. Sounds like I was wrong.

    6. I had tears in my
    eyes when i saw how they did kabalat shabat.I have been living in israel for 5 years ,from South Africa.I have so much respect for jewish.They stand together and have such good hearts.I mean witch team is going to share their food with the other team.And wow the kiddush wow.I love Israel and everything about it,i also want to participate and be part of am israel

    7. the israeli’s survivor series is not like the american survivor because the israelis survivor is more talking and talking than action and obstacles. hey, israeli’s you’re trying hard,corny and no originality..
