This just in from one of our famous bloggers as relayed by her 3-year-old:

The New & Possibly Improved (Child’s) Version of Hannuka
:

Once upon a time, a long time ago, there were bad people and they were called Greeks.

They came to the land of Israel to destroy the temple but Yehuda Maccabee and his people chased them out.

Of course work needed to be done to repair The Temple so Yehuda Macabee, Bob the Builder and Sportacus (Lazytown) took care of the repairs.

Well that works for me…

This Arabic with Hebrew translation graffiti put up in Tel Aviv’s port city Jaffa by a group of Israeli artists is, according to blogger Ola Hadasha, raising eyebrows.

Graffitti in Yefet St, Jaffa, by art group Parhessia (Aramaic for ‘public space’). The text reads: tiredness, freedom, justice, sealed – in Arabic, with transliteration and translation into Hebrew beneath

Parhessia … is raising something of a stir in Israel. It was founded two years ago by Israeli writers, artists and teachers with the objective of establishing a new language for the Israeli public sector, throwing a critical light on the ethnic, religious and social complexity of the country’s society.’

Live in Israel? Want to bring down your car insurance costs?

Then find ye religion, brother!

According to The Muqata’s Jameel, if you are a religious Jew then it follows that you don’t drive on the Sabbath i.e. Saturday. Accordingly, you can request a clause in your car insurance policy that looks like this:

It is hereby negotiated, that regardless of what is previously stated in this policy, the [insurance] company will not be liable to pay compensation for any accident, loss, damage or debts that occur or result during the time when this insured vehicle is driven on Shabbat or Jewish Holidays, when it is forbidden [by halacha] to drive from the start [of Shabbat/Chag] until the time when [Shabbat/Chag] is complete, according to the times stated by the Israeli Chief Rabbinate, unless the driving is for “pikuach nefesh” (risk of life). In exchange for the above, this policy will be reduced according to the “Not Driving on Shabbat and Jewish Holiday” clause.
