Long Live the Camisole Mafia!
This next commentary comes from McClatchy-Tribune syndicated columnist/Globes writer Laura Goldman who has something to say about the recent Ms. Magazine versus AJC advertisement controversy:

When Geena Davis, the star of the television show “Commander in Chief”, was interviewed on Oprah, she said, “I am proud that young girls watch the show and see a woman as President of the United States. Maybe it will inspire them to become the same in real life.”
The recent proposed advertisement of the American Jewish Committee in Ms. Magazine reminded me that young Israeli girls do not have to derive their inspiration from celluloid characters. In an incredible line up of the constellations, the president of the Supreme Court of Israel, Foreign Minister of Israel, and President of the Knesset (Speaker…sf) are currently all women. No other country can boast of such a galaxy of female stars.
The Camisole Mafia extends its reach beyond government service. Incredibly three of the major banks in the country, the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, the CFO forum, one of the largest real estate companies and a major food company are led or controlled by women.
The general public is accustomed to viewing the dynamic of women’s relationships through the prism of wrestling matches between Joan Collins and Linda Evans on the television show “Dynasty.” In Israel the actuality is much different. Shari Arison, chairman of Arison investments, has played a leading role in promoting women. Women have senior roles in four of companies.
Long live the Camisole Mafia!
