Sushi? Don’t mind if I Do
Seems everywhere you go these days, a sushi restaurant beckons.![]()
All sorts of varities: The fast food to-Go places, pre-packaged, delivery service sushi, stop on the boulevard and watch it being made variety and the sit down upscale restaurant type.
The Big Felafel’s Rebecca writes that there’s been a noticeable sushi restaurant upsurge in Jerusalem…

These sushi restaurants are starting to pop up in every Jerusalem neighborhood, including taking over what used to be a cute little cafe called Faza in the Katamon/Palmach neighborhood. I loved Faza – with their TV entertainment system in the bathroom and wireless internet. :( But I also like sushi. What to do.

I’m still waiting for the Mexican food to open up!
But yes, it does appear that sushi is everywhere!
I’ve been asking about Mexican for years…Either it’s here and not really really authentic (there’s one that’s supposedly really good on Bograshov in Tel Aviv) or it’s just not here…I dunno why. Cheap, large profit margin..???
There was a big story in the New York Times last week about the health hazards of sushi. A lot of mercury and other nasties found in the fish. I wonder who is monitoring that sort of thing in Israel. Anyone have any idea?
According to http://www.rest.co.il, the one on Bograshov is called Mexicana Bar & Kitchen, and it’s located at number 7 (corner of Ben-Yehudah). A search for Mexican food turned up quite a few results, but some of them seemed to be generic restaurants that happened to have some Mexican food on the menu.
I was at a Tex-Mex restaurant in Givataim years ago called Chimichanga, but I don’t know if it still exists.
