Time for Rehab

For all of the Amy Winehouse fans or naysayers out there:

The pop singer is sucking it in and going off to rehab folks. (Yes, yes, yes…it’s the real deal this time)

The move follows a meeting on Thursday with her record label Universal, her management, family members and doctors.

It follows photographs published in the U.K. earlier this week apparently showing the troubled star smoking crack cocaine.

A statement from Universal reveals Winehouse’s rehab stint — at an undisclosed location — is a bid to help her kick her drug dependence in time to appear at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on February 10. Winehouse is nominated for six awards.

She sure is…Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best New Artist, Best Female Pop Vocals Performance & Best Pop Vocals Album…Geeyad. The pressure when you shoot to the top must be awful.

But ya know, I have to voice a wee bit of skepticism over the effectiveness of a rehab program that lasts…um..let’s see…a tad longer than two weeks…

From now to the Grammy‘s to kick a multiple drug habit including crack?

What have her peeps at Universal been smoking?

    5. I love Amy Winehouse – she has a huge talent and is one of my favourite singers. I hope she sorts herself out as she has lots to offer and she’s only 24 after all.
