Caffeine Strike
I often work out of my satellite office CBTL, more commonly referred to as Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf.
For the past few weeks, however, the workers at MY branch have been on strike.

They’re striking because when an employee attempted to unionize last year, he was promptly fired. They say they need a union because working hours, conditions and terms aren’t fair.
I’m not crossing the picket line. A whole bunch of other people aren’t crossing either by the looks of the vacant interior of late.
Historically Israel has been home to a fairly strong social system that tends to be quite supportive of “the proletariat”.
So what happens when West – a U.S. based coffee chain – meets quasi-socialist Middle East?
We’ll see.
But according to this report, it could be precedent setting:
The labour movement in Israel sees organizing the Coffee Bean as a potential breakthrough for building union organization in the chain and in the sector generally.
