Cut the Fireworks

Looks like Israel’s lawmakers are gonna go the way of the U.S. laying hefty punishments on fireworks retailers or buyers for having/selling fireworks around the Purim holiday.

Too many accidents, burns, & blow-ups.

According to stats, emergency rooms get a 3.5% increase in fireworks-related visits around Purim time each year and in 2007, 150 kids sustained fireworks related injuries.

33 MK’s supported the proposed measure calling on 7 years prison for selling or importing fireworks and 3 years for buying or possessing them.

    2. Shouldn’t they be focusing this energy elsewhere? Bad driving + mitzvah to get drunk…do the math.

    3. More Freedom,

    I am a responsible mature adult, and how I decide to spend my holiday is my buissness. The fact that the MK’s want to limit my freedom shows that they don’t have respect for my maturity.

    How do we stop them? Let us Unite.

    Benji you’re right. Drink, read the megillah, drink some more, run amok in the streets. It doesn’t add up. But then when you hear about some of the freak fireworks accidents…WHEW!
