No Time For…

Popular teen punk band Useless ID may be hot on the international circuit but in Israel the army has Cut Them Off.

The 4-man traveling band originally from Haifa was booked to play an Israel Army Radio sponsored Purim Party in a few weeks which the band members were pretty down with. Why not? Kick it with old friends, chow on some of mom’s cooking, chill for a few weeks and then hit road tour again.

Until someone at Army Radio remembered: Hey, aren’t these the kids that publicly encouraged young Israelis to dodge army service? And didn’t they even give tips on how to get out of going into the military? Yeah. That’s them alright. I’d could recognize that eyebrow piercing anywhere!

Awww…this isn’t gonna work. Sponsoring them won’t bode well will it? We’re gonna have to cancel. Anyone got a number for Ivri Lider? Oh damn. He didn’t do his army service either. Suggestions?

Anyone? Anyone?

In an interview with Hebrew press, drummer Jonathan Harpak expressed regret over the incident. He said they probably shouldn’t have gone public with those kinds of sentiments in “these delicate times”…

ya think?

  2. For any Israeli to even have such an attitude is repulsive. But given the nihilistic, hedonistic, unpatriotic attitudes held and spread in so much of Israel life today by the liberal factions, it is not surprising.
