Shackled

You shouldn’t judge a book by its cover.

But if the title of Caroline Glick’s fresh-off-the-printing-presses new book is any indication of its innards, then get ready for some mighty strong and opinionated material.

Shackled Warrior, Israel and the Global Jihad is about…

Islamic supremacism, European cultural disaggregation, American vacillation, and Israeli timidity and confusion. These are the main social contexts that inform political and strategic developments of global and national affairs in our times.

Penned by Jerusalem Post columnist Caroline B. Glick, Warrior “highlights underlying trends while analyzing events as they unfold both globally and in Israel.”

Glick has a very impressive career history: Columbia University degree in Political Science,IDF officer background, former member of Israel’s negotiating team with the PLO & past assistant foreign policy adviser to former Prime Minister Netanyahu. Harvard Masters in Public Policy, Jerusalem Post senior columnist and deputy managing editor and senior fellow for Middle Eastern Affairs at the Center for Security Policy in Washington, DC. Whew!

Her column writing style is incendiary so considering the book title, I’d assume it follows suit.

  2. This book is NOT A NOVEL. It is a collection of her Jerusalem Post columns published over the last few years.

  6. Hey Stephanie,
What about collecting all your blog entries from Israelity and putting them into a explosive and incendiary book. Or at least a book with an explosive and incendiary cover?
Seems like a good way to make some extra dosh.
Hmm, wonder what you could call it….

  14. I gather from the tittle and cover, that Israel is the shackled warrior and like Samson might be compelled to collaspe the temple, i.e. destroy the whole Middle East in some sort if we are going down let’s take our enemies with us. Although I could be wrong, it seems the current Middle East situation is a far cry from such despartness. Also do not think Israel is shackled, although given the US’s twin commitments in Iraq & Afghanistan, it could be argued that America is tied down for the forseeable future.
Note: Periodically over the last 35 years, alarmists like Ms Glick have broadcast alarm that Israel is going to have do a Masada or a Samson. This has gotten kind of repetive. Can not Ms Glick come up with a different analogy?

  18. Caroline Glick is not an alarmist, she is a realist. Wake up!
