Skinny is Out
Thanks to anglosaxy, we can all keep afloat of fashion trends.
Skinny jeans are out, mes petits chevres (not the goat inference).
This is the new “it” according to this ad campaign running in Israel.

They look pretty skinny to me.
A fashion designer I know JUST told me last week that baggy jeans (like you might find in America) are going to be big here in 6-12 months.
That’s what I thought when I saw them: Pretty darned slim lookin’ to me.
Benji: Who, pray-tell, is your fashion tipster?
They look almost baggy compared to the pants that Benji and I saw a woman wearing the other day. Remember, Benji? They were hideous.
He works for Fox. Friend of a friend. Unfortunately none of his fashion sense has been passed on to me.
Hey, are we still pegging our jeans? I need to look cool with my new Ocean Pacific t-shirt.
Were those pants? I thought they were painted on.
Given that there are so many fat people around it is not unexpected that “skinny” jeans would be out.
One more comment – I wish Israel would move away from its obsession that if its American, it must be good.
It’s not exactly true….like Tom Friedman said, the world is flat. It’s a capitalist country…it’s not surprising that similar people in different countries will have some similar likes. Tel Aviv’s probably more like a European city. I think I’ve seen 2 fat people in Tel Aviv and they may have been Americans.
I agree with Benji. It’s not an obsession with anything American, though it may have been once. The world is getting smaller. I bet if you were to line up secular teenagers of similar socioeconomic levels from the US, Israel, various European countries, Lebanon, Jordan, etc, you probably wouldn’t be able to tell which teenager came from which country. While Israel may be more aligned politically with the US, I’d say that culturally, we’re probably more in tune with the streets of Europe.
Actually I think Israel’s got a fashion style all of its own.
It’s much sexier, more carefree and casual.
It;s got heat.
