RIP, Chuck

Headlines are running with news of Charlton Heston’s death so posting it here isn’t bringing anything new to the fore.

But those who grew up watching (or being subjected to watching) The Ten Commandments year in and out at exactly this time of year may harbor a wee soft spot for ‘ol Charlton. Even if he ran a tad amok toward the end with his NRA endorsements and that cringe-inducing cameo in Michael Moore’s flick.

Planet of the Apes, Soylent Green (IS PEOPLE!), Earthquake…

But he’ll always be that crazy gun toting fool Moses to me.

Enjoy the clip. RIP, Chuck. We’ll be thinking of you ’round the Passover table.

    2. Anyone targeted by Michael Moore has to be worth admiring.

    Heston had more presence in his smallest fart than the current herd of Hollywodd boy-men will have in their entire careers. (To adapt Walter Matthau’s fine – and accurate – quote about his talent versus that of Barbara Streisand.)

    4. A right is a moral concept and is unalienable – this was recognized by the Founders of the United States. So the Second Amendment is not a matter of government choice or for that matter ‘the people’ either.

    So Shakira – exactly how do you think the food reaches your table. The animals commit suicide? They are hunted – maybe, or more likely tortured into slaughter – you prefer that.

    Are you an Israeli, have you had to be woken up as a kid as Arabs shot at and rocketed your home in the kibbutz at 2 in the morning. I can still remember the sick feeling of terror as my mother ran dragging me to a shelter.

    It is not the weapon that causes problems, it is the idea in mind of the person that wields it. Think on this and thank your personal god that there ARE people willing to take up arms and fight an enemy, invader or criminal.

    And this is where I say God Bless Arik! Always!

    5. No, I am not an Israeli – did not think this is an Israelis only website, sorry. No, I don’t eat animals – I am proud to be a vegetarian. And I think you’ll find pro-hunting is not part of the American constitution either – certainly NOT compulsory. And no – I will not mourn Mr Heston, thank you – and he is not a hero or should be celebrated as one. And who is Arik anyway ?
