Mcee D’s & Class Action

It’s class action fever time in Israel. And if you’re gonna go for the big bucks, why not hit up a has-been junk fooderia for its remaining fortunes before the entire ship goes down.

According to this story, an Israeli industrial engineer is leading a class action lawsuit against local McDonald’s franchisers to the drumbeat of NIS100 million (Roughly a quarter million U.S. $) over misleading information meted to patrons regarding sodium levels in the chain’s food. The plaintiff in the case claims the salty food poses a health hazard and elevates heart attack risk.

McDonald’s is presenting its offerings as “health products,” even though this is “very far from the reality,”
states the petitioner in his suit.

McDonald’s stopped reporting the sodium content of its foods in 2005 and the sodium levels marked on the packaging were often misleading and incorrect, the suit states.

As an example the chain’s ketchup packets were cited for not containing information about sodium content.

Damages of NIS 3,000 per customer are being sought and the suit estimates 244,000 customers were affected.

  4. Someone should introduce him to the lady who sued MCDs for not knowing the boiling hot coffee was, indeed, boiling hot.

  8. The Israeli courts ought to throw the suit out and then levy the costs at the engineer.

Nobody forces anyone to eat any food.

What the suit declares is that people that frequent MCD have no self-esteem. If anyone is responsible for kids eating food that is extremely unhealthy, it is their parents.

When I was a kid, during the period when money and fat were NOT Israeli gods, we used to snack on sunflower and pumpkin seeds. Okay, we were a border kibbutz and we did look down on the city slickers!

Today, just walking past a MCD is enough to make want to throw-up. The smell is just awful!

If you are an adult and you choose to eat MCD food, it is your responsiblity, nobody else’s.
