Actually, Christmas is surprisingly present in Israeli life - and not just in Arab neighbourhoods.

At supermarket chainTiff Tam, you can buy chocolate Father Christmas's, Xmas serviettes, and other various Xmas items. You can buy Christmas decorations in the chain Happening. Xmas trees in Toys R Us, and various chocolate shops sell Xmas candies.

Every year there's more Christmas items on sale in Israel, due in part to the Russian immigrants who arrived in Israel and continue to celebrate the holiday, and also due to the foreign workers, many of whom are devout Christians.

Some commentators also suggest that Jewish families are getting in on the act buying Christmas items that remind them of their trips abroad, but I personally haven't seen any evidence of that.
