Rabbi Melchior bridges - and I am one Conservative Jew who likes what he sees! With such a plank, Yeruka-Meimad could probably join any coalition that’s formed. Some have accused Meimad’s Melchior of being opportunist." (Interesting juxtaposition.) If you are going green but believe that there is no rhyme or reason to the major parties' security position, then i guess it makes sense to value a security plank that "could probably join any coalition that’s formed". Meimad and Melchior do appeal to those who like having a (token) hechsher but will never contribute to pluralism. Melchior has always advanced himself by offering "you can ignore the general religious public because you can say that I am on your team" and disparaging those who oppose him (without addressing the issues).
