I'm in the United States and I use Sambucol on my family successfully. I too have the same question about "swine flu" or "Mexican flu" and the cytokine production. I had rather take Sambucol than Tamiflu. Great product!

Is it possible that Sambucol could actually increase the fatality risk of Swine Flu? According to a 2001 study (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11399518), the way Sambucol works is by "activate[ing] the healthy immune system by increasing inflammatory cytokine production". But I have read that this Swine Flu, unlike normal influenza, is killing healthy people with strong immune systems (and not young and old people with weak immune systems) because it triggers a so-called "cytokine storm" (see http://www.fluwikie.com/index.php?n=Science.PrimerCytokineStorm and http://newsblaze.com/story/20090427092841mcco.nb/topstory.html). If this is the case, wouldn't taking Sambucol potentially be dangerous?

I actually love this product and regularly take it to help with the normal flu, but the above information concerns me.

A second Israeli has now been hospitalized with possible swine flu after returning from Mexico.
But now Israel can't call it swine flu. According to Ultra-Orthodox deputy health minister Yakov Litzman, we've got to call it Mexico flu, because pigs aren't kosher.
Oh come on!

Can't our ministers do something useful with their time in office.
