I felt quite injured by the plight of the animals in this zoo, and empathy also for the owner, who insisted he had only wanted to provide a source of entertainment and enlightenment for the children of the city.

I am grateful to the mayor of Ramat Gan for the zebras, but I hope that altruistic organizations with which I am familiar will champion this little zoo so that its animals are housed and fed properly, and that this bright but tiny star of hope will prosper in Gaza. I would gladly help the zoo feed and maintain its current residents if I knew where to send the money, and was assured it would bless this kind endeavour.
