Light, Shadow and Color
Dan Diamant seems like a straight-laced, soft-spoken systems engineer. He is, in fact, a systems engineer. But he also has a completely different side of him that comes out in his fabulous photographs, which have slowly but surely been gaining an audience in a series of local exhibitions.
For this Budapest-born photographer, living in Israel for the last 20 years, photography is a form of self-expression, and an art form that he has been working on since he was 17, combining the worlds of science and art.
Here’s what he writes about his craft in his website:
In 2007, an estimated 80 billion digital pictures were created in the United States alone. Sometimes I wonder if there is a reason in creating any more photographs. But photography, for me, is like life itself, it happens without a reason. I look around me and I just wonder. I see the extraordinary in the ordinary, the special in the common. Photography makes me stop in my everyday rush and take a deep breath. It is a wonderful world, here and now. My photographs are still and silent. They stop the time flowing. They let you enter into another frame of mind. To understand that each of us is extraordinary and special.
Dan’s subjects are nature, landscapes, gardens and everyday scenes. Some of his photographs are produced with the help of a special method resembling the original meaning of photography “drawing by the light.” He uses long exposition time and camera movements to create photographs that appear to be paintings but still represent reality. And I liked what he said here: “My photographs are ready a long time before they are taken, they were created in my imagination. I should only find them [sic] somewhere and to operate my camera at the decisive moment.”
Dan’s current photograph collection, “Light, Shadow and Color” is being exhibited at the Weizmann Center in Tel Aviv, 14 Weizmann Street, March 10-June 10, 2010.

I like his beautiful visual world mirrored in pictures from the crossroad or dreams and reality. I am delighted that the author is willing to share his experience with us. Yes, there are millions of photographs on various internet sites, some are more artistic than others. These are among my favourites.
I just saw the great exhibition on Dan, it is gorgious. Tha gentle pastel colors so much natural…. and the light effects make them even more gentle. It is really very exciting to have a look at his photos, they can provide a very pleasent and tranquille atmoshere wherever they are hang.
I can highly recommend to all.
Last weekend we saw the movie Alice in wonderland. The movie is still fresh on our minds. Alice, in one scene of the movie, told Mad Hatter: “What I am experiencing is just a figment of my own imagination. Am I just imagining it, or is the speck of light next to the tree in Dan’s picture Alice’s light blue dress, just before she disappears down the rabbit hole?
Dan takes pictures of everyday scenes and turns them into interplay of illusion and reality for us. He sees the extraordinary in the ordinary. A walk through his pictures is like a walk through wonderland.
Nature and photographing are my preferrencies too. So Dan’s works are very talking to me. One of them, representing flowers touching the ground, is in my living room. A window to nature mainly on dark days, a real healer.
My 2 cents: go and see the real thing – his works (not only on his site).

Nature power !!!
I would define the special works of Dan.
Dan manages to impress us with the beauty of nature,
I have the picture of the leaves fall,
Highly recommended!!!!!!
Dan’s phtographs thrill me! He ‘catches’ the moment. When you look at his photographs, you feel like you’re right there, in nature. In my mind’s eye the fleeting memory of nature’s beauty is caught in Dan’s pictures.
Absolutely go check out his exhibition and make space on your walls for your favorite photo.

Dan has a unique way of using the camera as a paintbrush.
His work is like impressionist painting.
You often don’t know what the Phto is until you change the angle or distance of yur viewing point, but you are alws impressed by thebeauty and total effect.
