Israel will always ‘Bibi’ pro-America
He zinged Libyan leader Mumamar Gaddafi with his club-beat remix YouTube hit “Zenga Zenga” and now Israeli musician, writer and producer Noy Alooshe is zinging his very own prime minister, Binyamin Netanyahu.
In February, Alooshe created an ‘electro hip hop remix’ clip based on a speech given by Gaddafi in which he repeated the word ‘zanqa’, Arabic for alleyway in the Libyan dialect. Retitling it “Zenga Zenga,” Alooshe uploaded the clip and it immediately went viral and became a big hit with the Libyan opposition fighting Gaddafi’s regime.
Now the 31-year-old local celebrity has come out with a new remix spoofing Netanyahu and the speech he gave last week to the US Congress. Called “Bi Bi Pro Americano,” the clip remixes excerpts from Netanyahu’s speech to the tune of the popular remix of Yolanda Be Cool’s “We No Speak Americano.”
Those without a sense of humor might interpret the clip to mean that Netanyahu pandered to the US leaders, as it emphasizes his assertions of how close the relationship is between the two countries – “Israel will always [Bibi] pro-America” – and loops the congressman’s standing ovations for the Israeli premier.
Alooshe is a member of the techno group Chovevei Tzion (“Lovers of Zion”) who have had a few dance hits in Israel. After the success of “Zenga Zenga,” he said that he was excited “to be making waves in the Arab world as an Israeli” but he is also a bit worried: “what if Gaddafi stays in power and comes looking for me?”
He shouldn’t have any similar problems with Netanyahu – that is unless Bibi is one of those without a sense of humor. In that case, Alooshe will always find a warm welcome among the freedom fighters in Tripoli.
