Invasion of the country snatchers

IDF troops along the border with Syria yesterday.

There’s something surreal about living in Israel, when on a monthly basis, it now seems, we’re invaded by citizens of enemy countries. Apparently, they’re hoping to infiltrate and make their point that Israel is not really Israel, it’s Palestine.

Kind of bizarre behavior I think, especially when they’re in the middle of their own revolution against their own government. Let’s keep focused, boys.

The Nakba Day, and now Naksa Day protests on the anniversary of Israel’s victory in the Six Day War in 1967, should prove to any well-meaning peace makers out there who say if only Israel withdrew from the ‘occupied territories’ then there would be tranquility in the land, that Israel’s presence in the West Bank has only a little to do with the conflict – it’s Israel’s presence at all that has everything to do with it.

While Western media reports about yesterday’s ‘Naksa’ altercations along the border with Syria likely stated that Israeli soldiers opened fire indiscriminately on unarmed, defenseless Syrians massing peacefully on their side of the border, the truth is far from that.

We don’t know how many Syrians were killed because we can’t rely on any numbers that their official bodies provide, but the fact is that any country defending its borders would do exactly what the IDF did, but maybe with not as much restraint: Warn the would-be infiltrators to move away from the border, fire warning shots in the air when they didn’t, and when they continued to move toward the border, fire at their lower body.

Anyone believing in democracy and a righteous society would be heartened by the behavior of our troops yesterday when faced with masses of infiltrators aimed at doing harm to your country. Sovereignty is nothing to be taken lightly, and that’s the reality in Israel that our enemies are going to have to realize.

  2. Being and American on the outside looking in, I can’t help but respect the bravery of the Israeli people. The seething hatred of Israels neighbors only reaffirms that God is for His people. If God is for you, I feel sorry for who is against you.

  4. you are so right with your article!! It’s totally surreal especially, as you mentioned, because there are other, much more important things for them to do in Syria! Forget the Western media and their biased attitude! It’s a shame anyway. kadima!

  6. I couldn’t agree more with both David and Liz. Doesn’t the word Israel or Yisrael mean “God fights” (given to Jacob after his struggle with God)? In that sence I understand that God fights for Israel and victory from all the wars in the last century is proof enough :)
