It must be nice to make a bundle in hi-tech and open a fabulous places like this. Sigh. Oh, well, at least we can visit.

Amphorae Winery is one of the most beautiful wineries in the country. Although the winery isn’t set in the midst of the vineyards that supply its grapes, it is set amidst organic vineyards in the area. The wineries own vineyards are located in the Galilee and the Jerusalem area.

The founders behind the project, people from the hi-tech industry, built this winery not only to make good wine, but also to be a sanctuary, a little like the family-run tourist wineries abroad.

The building was planned in the Italian style, and looks like it was taken in its entirety from Italy. It is set in one of the most beautiful locations on the Carmel, in the river bed in Makura ranch, near Kerem Maharal.

First, our illustrious Prime Minister Googlebombed. Then, he’s ridiculed in the international press for having plastic surgery.

Olmert is known to be conscious about his image, favoring expensive suits and flashy ties. He is a fitness freak who jogs and works out regularly. About a decade ago, he had laser eye surgery to remove the spectacles he wore early on in his career. And recently, he cut off his trademark comb-over, emulating the example of his good friend Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York.

Channel 2 news opened its Sunday evening broadcast with news of surgery, which Olmert had initially kept secret. Since former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s massive stroke a year ago, many in government and the media had been demanding more disclosure from their leaders about their medical status.

Monday’s papers were filled with news of the procedure, coupled with before and after pictures of Olmert. One headline read: “Olmert’s eyelids raise eyebrows.”

Jewlicious Dances Across Israel

So I’m thinking this officially qualifies as a trend. Inspired by the video by Jacob Shwirtz that went viral across the Jewish blogosphere, the Jewlicious crew decided to pay tribute and also filmed their kids dancing in various locations as they made their way around Israel on their Birthright adventure.

For those reading this who don’t know, Jewlicious is a wonderful group blog which doesn’t just talk the talk, they actually recruit their readers onto Birthright trips and then lead them on mad adventures across the land of their fathers.

I hear their trips are great. But now, let’s talk about the dancing….In the tradition of the Dancing With the Stars judging, I’m going to have to rate Jacob’s horse-trotting moves above the dancing skills of Jewlicious, which at times were reminiscent of Elaine on Seinfeld.
