What is Big Brother Really Watching?
It’s official. Israel is now everywhere. Well, okay. Not really. Not literally. But citizens of the world beware. As of yesterday, Israel’s Ofek 7 satellite is scooting about the universe, and will begin taking photos in the next day or so. The satellite, armed with a series of cameras, can circle the earth in thirty minutes. Advanced technology allows for high quality shots, and will undoubtedly be used by Israel to check out the finer details of Iran’s nuclear facilities, among other sites of lesser strategic importance.
The air force is pleased with the success of yesterday’s launch,
and rightfully so. Satellites are serious business, and given Israel’s precarious standing in the world these days, keeping an eye on things – especially things of a more dubious nature – is probably not such a bad idea. Of course, one can’t help but wonder what those satellites are photographing during quiet times, when they aren’t gathering actual intelligence information. I mean, I’ve always wanted a big brother, but a big brother named Ofek 7 wasn’t exactly what I had in mind…
